THE WALLS

SHORT SYNOPSIS
Joao N'Dugu was an athlete in Angola. In pole vaulting, he surpassed the records of the greatest vaulters in history. Unfortunately, these were not official. In 1984, he was going to represent his country at the Olympic Games and demonstrate his courage, but his government joined the Soviet boycott of the Games. He abandons then his country to become a professional athlete. He was injured while fleeing. He arrived in Montreal and lived in fear of reprisals for having deserted his country. At the age of forty, he agrees to be hired by a non-governmental organization to teach immigrants how to jump the walls that separate them from other worlds. This is a story that takes place in a dystopian universe, in the not too distant future, when huge waves of human migration are shaking the planet. In this context, N'Dugu is confronted with himself and his fears.
