TROPICAL ANIMAL IN MONTREAL

Pedro Juan Gutiérrez, the most published Cuban writer in the last ten years, spends some days in the city of Montreal to promote one of his poetry books published by a Québec publishing house. The controversial writer of the "dirty Trilogy of Havana" here finds literary critics, recognized writers as well as a vast public interested in his work, his origins, his life and his country. Their encounters, reflections, their answers, with their usual direct and biting tone, raw in the extreme, always provoking, are not left to the wind. On the contrary, they are recorded by the camera that follows him during his journey on an island - the island of Montreal - perhaps a little alien to his own island - Cuba -. This writer who mocks the moral prejudices and the double discourses is freed here without shame to make us discover little by little "the tropical animal" that lives in him.
